The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of a clinical osteoarthritis diagnosis and explanation without being sent for x-ray on consumer beliefs about osteoarthritis management, compared to diagnosis and explanation based on x-ray reports (with and without x-ray images).

Researchers involved in this study included Dr Belinda Lawford, Prof Rana Hinman, Dr Michelle Hall, Dr Thorlene Egerton, Prof Kim Bennell, Dr Steph Filbay, Mr Jesse Pardo, Mr Alex Kimp, Ms Fiona McManus, and Ms Peixuan Li, and Dr Anurika De Silva at The University of Melbourne, as well as Dr Dan Ewald (a practicing GP) and Ms Barbara Capewell (a consumer with knee osteoarthritis).
