The primary aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of a consumer-focused Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on knowledge about osteoarthritis and its management and pain self-efficacy for people with hip and/or knee osteoarthritis. Participants were allocated to complete a 4-week, 4-module interactive consumer-facing e-Learning course about osteoarthritis and its recommended management or read an electronic pamphlet about osteoarthritis and its recommended management  from a reputable consumer  organisation.
