About

The primary aim of this study was to explore experiences of people with knee osteoarthritis who received a weight loss diet and exercise program delivered by a physiotherapist. As part of the POWER study, participants were asked to attend 6 Zoom consultations online with a physiotherapist over six months and asked to an exercise program at home. Participants allocated to the diet and exercise group undertook a very low calorie ketogenic diet including meal replacements.

The qualitative study of POWER was designed and developed by researchers (Dr Belinda Lawford,  Dr Kim Allison, Dr Rachel Nelligan, Penny Campbell, Prof Rana Hinman, Dr Sarah Jones, Jesse Pardo and Prof Kim Bennell) at the University of Melbourne. This project is funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council.
