Watch Recording: The Marian Barrett Lecture 2022: Embedding consumer participation in research
On May 11, the Eve of International Nurses Day, the Department of Nursing was delighted to hold the annual Marian Barrett Lecture as our first in person event in over two years.
Held at the Ian Potter Auditorium, we welcomed Professor Leanne Aitken as the main speaker. She discussed the importance and benefits of consumer and community involvement in research and the challenges faced when trying to do so. Find out more information on the lecture and the speaker.
The hybrid event was a fantastic occasion to come together in person and online as a Department and profession to appreciate the contributions made by nurses to the community to improve quality and access to healthcare. Following the lecture, there was a cocktail session, providing an excellent opportunity to network.
During the event, the Department also celebrated our 2021-2022 Scholarship and Prize recipients. We would like to thank our donors, who through philanthropic endeavours, support our scholarships and prizes.
Furthermore, we were pleased to announce the new Dame Quentin Bryce Palliative Care Nursing Research Fund, launched by our Department in conjunction with the Centre of Palliative Care at St Vincent’s Hospital to support research in palliative care nursing.
Thank you to all those who attended and contributed to the success of the evening.
