Social Work team at European Domestic Violence Conference
The Department of Social Work was proud to be represented at this year’s European Domestic Violence Conference, held in Barcelona in September 202,5 by Prof Cathy Humphreys, Dr Margaret Kertesz, Jasmin Isobe and Van Callaly.
Held biennially, the conference brings together global experts to share knowledge on both established and emerging forms of domestic violence against women and children.
The Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC)) team presented on a range of topics:
- Safe at Home: Experiences, Barriers and Access (SHEBA) Project – Jasmin Isobe
- Dyadic Interventions to Strengthen Mother-Child Relationships – Dr Margaret Kertesz with Canadian colleagues
- Addressing Father–Child Relationships for Family Safety – Prof Cathy Humphreys and Dr Margaret Kertesz
- DV-Informed Practice in Child Protection – Dr Margaret Kertesz and Prof Cathy Humphreys
- Cross-Sector Collaboration Between DV and Substance Use Services – Van Callaly
Prof Cathy Humphreys, with her co-editor Prof Stephanie Holt (Trinity College Dublin), co-hosted the launch of the Special Collection in the Journal of Family Violence on Causes, Consequences, and Recovery for Children with Experiences of Domestic and Family Violence.
