Physiotherapy and prehabilitation in major cancer surgery
At the recent Australian Physiotherapy Association Victorian Branch Winter Breakfast, Professor Catherine Granger from the Department of Physiotherapy discussed the growing role of prehabilitation in improving outcomes following major cancer surgery.
Drawing on over 20 years of clinical and research experience, Professor Granger covered how exercise, nutrition, psychological support and patient education can enhance patients' fitness before surgery, contributing to fewer complications, shorter hospital stays and improved recovery.
