Women’s pelvic pain in the spotlight
Clinical specialist women’s pelvic health physiotherapist and researcher, A/Prof Helena Frawley, recently presented at the National Conference on Incontinence (NCOI) in Brisbane.
Helena presented the latest research on pelvic floor disorders in gynecological and breast cancers, informed by her current research projects and the work of recent PhD graduates Dr Robyn Brennen and Dr Udari Colombage.
Helena also presented on the effectiveness of conservative management of endometriosis-associated pain, informed by her team’s latest research and the work of a systematic review that is being developed by Master of Physiotherapy (Pelvic Health) postgraduate students and lecturer Elise Fraser.
Women’s pelvic pain is the focus of a current Victorian state inquiry and the women’s and pelvic health research and teaching team at The University of Melbourne is busy preparing and look forward to contributing an evidence informed solution-focused submission. Submissions are currently open to any clinician, researcher or person who has experienced pelvic pain or worked with women in pain.
