Welcoming tomorrow’s optometrists to our department
Last Friday, the Department of Optometry and Vision Sciences welcomed a group of undergraduate students for our Discover Your Optometry Future Tour.

Guided by A/Prof Anthea Cochrane and A/Prof Christine Nguyen, the students explored our preclinical and clinical teaching spaces, including the Melbourne Eyecare Clinic. The tour offered them a valuable, firsthand insight into what it's like to study optometry at the University of Melbourne.
They also had the chance to ask questions about both being a Doctor of Optometry student and becoming one, gaining a clearer understanding of the pathways from undergraduate study into the program. It was inspiring to see their enthusiasm and curiosity about the profession and possibilities ahead.
As a department committed to shaping future leaders in optometry and vision sciences, we look forward to supporting and welcoming the next generation of optometrists in the years to come.
