Welcoming Professor Sarah Wendt and Dr Josephine Clarke

We were delighted to welcome Professor Sarah Wendt and Dr Josephine Clarke to the Department of Social Work in January.

Sarah’s research explores three key areas: the impacts of domestic violence on women's citizenship, service provision for Aboriginal communities experiencing family violence, and engaging men to address domestic violence.

Sarah will be leading one of the main research pillars in the multi-university Centre for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, along with her Research Fellow, Dr Josephine Clarke.

Josephine is a social researcher and policy analyst supporting gender equality, safety and social inclusion, currently researching domestic and family violence issues. Her background primarily focuses on working in rural and remote communities and she has completed research on wellbeing, gender equality, domestic and family violence, industry restructuring, climate and water reform.

The ARC Centre of Excellence for the Elimination of Violence Against Women aims to transform public understanding of this problem through looking into the structural drivers causing and compounding violence against women, pioneering evidence-based approaches to improve practice and policy in Australia and the Indo-Pacific region.
