Welcome to Health Sciences

We held our inaugural Welcome to Health Sciences event on Friday 23 February, as part of the University of Melbourne Orientation Week.

The event, held at South Lawn in the heart of the University’s Parkville Campus, saw hundreds of people gather on a sunny afternoon to celebrate the start of the year as a School community. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn about the six Melbourne School of Health Sciences disciplines – Nursing. Physiotherapy, Social Work, Optometry and Vision Sciences, Audiology and Speech Pathology – with each discipline hosting a fun interactive activity.

A number of supporting programs also joined the event with the Collaborative Practice Centre, Interprofessional Education and Practice Health Students’ Network, Chat Fest, Teddy Bear Hospital and Contemplative Studies Centre also hosting interactive learning opportunities for those in attendance.

Coloured bucket hats represented each of the MSHS disciplines and provided a striking visual display of the varied professions that make up the School and the healthcare network that students will be working in.

With delicious lunch options, ice cream, live music and movement classes, there was something for everyone!

Thanks to all those who attended, joined in the activities and helped mark the start of an exciting year ahead.
