Student trivia night fun

MSHS recently supported a vibrant Trivia Night, uniting staff and students from various discipliens.

Organised by the Melbourne University Physiotherapy Students' Society (MUPSS) in collaboration with their executive and social events committee, this event aimed to foster connections across disciplines within the university community. Led by MUPSS President Maddison McAlister and Vice-president Anusha Budehal, the Trivia Night brought together 80 eager physiotherapy, audiology and speech pathology students, with tickets selling out weeks in advance. Melbourne University's Speech Pathology Student's Society (SPSS) and Interprofessional Education and Practice Health Students' Network (IPEP-HSN) were fantastic partners and showcased their enthusiasm for such gatherings among the health science student body.

Set in the lively ambiance of The Castle in North Melbourne, the Trivia Night was MC'd by the dynamic duo of Tom Davies and Siana Presley, guiding attendees through an array of trivia categories spanning sports, pop culture, music, history, and even paper aeroplane competitions! Participants competed for coveted prizes generously provided by sponsors such as the Melbourne School of Health Sciences, the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry, and Health Sciences, and corporate partners like Fisiocrem and ASICs. From class pass vouchers to movie tickets and indulgent Cadbury favourites boxes, the prizes added an extra layer of excitement to the evening, complemented by a raffle for an ASICs voucher worth $280.

Such events are vital in the health science university community, serving as an essential platform for networking, socialising, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. Beyond the academic rigours of their studies, students and staff alike benefit from these occasions to unwind, build relationships, and exchange insights across diverse fields of expertise. Through initiatives like the Trivia Night, MSHS and its affiliated societies, including physiotherapy, audiology, and speech pathology students, reinforce the sense of belonging and solidarity within the health science community, contributing to a rich and supportive academic environment that extends beyond the classroom.
