MSHS Speech Pathology represented at Norway stuttering conference

Dr Elaina Kefalianos and Dr Georgie Johnson presented at the University of Oslo, Norway for the Early Stuttering Treatment (EST) Closing Seminar.

Elaina is the Director of Teaching and Learning for the Master of Speech Pathology, Vice President for the Stuttering Association for the Young: Australia and an Honorary Research Fellow of the Speech Language Group at the Murdoch Children's Research Institute. She is also a chief investigator on the Effective Stuttering Treatment project, a $2.4 million five-year project funded by the Norwegian Research Council's Better Health and Quality of Life Program. This project aims to advance the management of childhood stuttering by developing and trialling a new intervention for preschool children.

Georgie is a Lecturer for Speech Pathology and a recently conferred PhD Graduate. She was invited to speak on her PhD findings on treatment transition from preschool to school-aged children with stuttering, and to teach some classes as part of the University of Oslo Master of Speech Pathology.

The EST Closing Seminar comprised of two parts, exploring the possibilities and challenges of preschool stuttering both from a Norwegian practical perspective (part one) and from international expertise (part two).
