MSHS celebrates NAIDOC week

NAIDOC Week is held each year to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

MSHS begun the week with a celebration on the Monday attended by approximately 50 staff who gathered to share in morning tea catered by a First Nations business. At the event Professor Bruce Thompson officially announced Professor Sean Taylor as the School’s new Professor of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health and Professor Lou Harms provided an update on strategic priorities.

On the Friday a strong contingent of MSHS staff, some with posters made at the MDHS Student Hub activity earlier in the week, joined with a broader University of Melbourne group to make their way to join in the NAIDOC Community March.
