Senior leaders from Melbourne School of Health Sciences (MSHS) and Collaborative Practice Centre (CPC) travelled to Mparntwe (Alice Springs) in August to discuss to partnerships, innovative models of care, research collaboration and potential clinical placement opportunities for our students.

Prof Bruce Thomson, A/Prof Dani Tomlin and  A/Prof Fiona Dobson (MSHS), and Neville Turner (CPC), went to the Central Australian Aboriginal Congress Aboriginal Corporation (Congress) to discuss new and exciting methods of healthcare delivery. They met with Andrew Jolly (Manager Allied Health), Anna Morse (Optometry) and Marah Prior (GM Health Services) to discuss opportunities to work together including supporting research, projects, staff development and student placements.

Congress provides holistic and culturally appropriate health services to Aboriginal people living around Mparntwe, with a commitment to improving health outcomes for all Aboriginal people. The trip included site visits to the main clinic location at Gap Road, as well as the Head Office and the clinic in Larapinta. The team were shown the cutting-edge work being undertaken and they are now working on a pilot student placement experience in 2025.
