Graduate Researcher Colloquium 2025 -Translating Care

The event aimed to promote awareness of research topics and methodologies across MSHS departments, fostering greater understanding and collaboration in the School. This year’s theme, 'Translating Care: Bridging Professions, Research and Communities' reflected on how we can move forward from research to practice, highlighting the role of collaborative and implementation science in turning the latest high-quality evidence into clinical practice and patient-centred care.

The event was organised by the MSHS Graduate Research Representative Committee, fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration within the School.

The day started with an opening address from Prof Catherine Granger (MSHS Director of Graduate Research), followed by the plenary speaker, Dr Rachel Toovey, who provided insights on the importance of translating research into practice, and the essential role of collaborative research and co-design in enabling this.

Graduate Researchers (GRs) had the exciting opportunity to participate in an Implementation Science workshop with experts from the MSHS Implementation Research group, A/Prof Stephanie Best and Dr Marlena Klaic, sharing strategies to help translate research into healthcare practice and public health policies.

Another highlight was the panel discussion on 'Tips for success in a PhD and Post-Doc', a discussion amongst members of the MSHS Early to Mid-Career Academic Association: Dr Travis Haber, Dr Viet Bui, Dr Juan Pablo Faundez Astudillo, and Dr Paulene Mackell, moderated by Meredith Heily.

The Colloquium was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the outstanding work of our GRs, including:
