Georgina Whish-Wilson wins No-Bell prize competition

The No-Bell prize competition was a fantastic opportunity for many MDHS graduate researchers to communicate their research in an engaging and interactive way.

The competition consisted of three rounds. Each round involved one minute presentations, then three minutes of questions from the host and one minute of questions from the audience. All participants were given personalised coaching to develop their skills in creating research pitches and communicating their research in a fun and engaging way.

Melbourne School of Health Sciences had 13 of 55 participants in the heats, with five MSHS researchers going through to the final held on 21 August. Congratulations to Georgina Whish-Wilson (Department of Physiotherapy) who won the competition and received a cash prize of $1000, after presenting about her research on the benefits of exercise for lung cancer patients. And congratulations to runner up Claire Laurie (Department of Physiotherapy) who spoke about her research on supporting child cancer patients to recover physically after surgery. Nobel Prize winner Associate Professor Tilman Ruff AO briefly spoke at the event and presented prizes to the winners.

We also applaud the remaining MSHS finalists Kate Rawnsley (Department of Physiotherapy), Ching Yi Wu (Department of Optometry and Vision Sciences) and Ayobami Esther Olanrewaju (Department of Physiotherapy).
