First Nations therapy resources in Speech Pathology

Last week we had Wannarua woman and Speech Pathologist Nikita Austin present to Speech Pathology students at the University as part of the Practice in Diverse Communities and Complex Case Models in Speech Pathology subject this semester.

Subject Coordinators Yeptain Leung and Georgie Johnson emphasise the importance of Indigenous knowledge in educating the next generation of health professionals and improve culturally safe practice in the community. Nikita generously brought a suitcase of resources for our students to engage with during her classes. It’s been a privilege to hear from her and about her work on Wonnarua and Worimi country.
