Department of Physiotherapy at the AusACPDM2024
From 30 July to 3 August, the Department of Physiotherapy’s Paedeatric Research team shared their work at the 12th Biennial Australasian Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine conference (AusACPDM2024).
The conference aims to provide multidisciplinary scientific education for health professionals and promote research excellence and optimal clinical care for those with cerebral palsy and developmental conditions. The theme of the conference, held in Cairns, was ‘Respect Respond Reimagine’.
The conference kicked off with an opening keynote presentation 'Principles to guide research and service provision for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families' from Professor Sandra Eades, Deputy Dean Indigenous with MDHS and MSPGH. Special shoutouts Professor Alicia Spittle, Associate Dean Research with MDHS and AusACPDM Co-President, for delivering the Dinah Reddihough Oration on ‘Navigating Implementation: Research to Clinical Impact’. And congratulations to Dr Free Coulston, Lecturer in Physiotherapy, who was selected to present her work ‘The Circus Project: Co-designing a circus-based intervention to enhance physical activity participation for preschool-aged children born preterm’ in the Top 7 PhD papers session.
Together the Department of physiotherapy contributed to ten oral presentations, two pre-conference workshops, two focused symposia, two podcast interviews, one keynote presentation, one poster presentation, 1 top 7 PhD papers presentation, and 1 top 10 poster. Congratulations!
