Department of Nursing Shines at Australian College of Nurse Practitioners National Conference

The conference was a resounding success, yielding valuable insights and connections. The department discovered that there's still a perception amongst some attendees that our course is exclusively delivered face-to-face, highlighting the need for enhanced promotion of our diverse delivery options.

The event provided an excellent opportunity to network with Nurse Practitioners (NPs) in influential positions, allowing us to share materials and information about our programs. Notably, we engaged in numerous conversations with potential PhD students, cementing our position as a leading institution for advanced practice education and research.

One of the conference highlights was witnessing the accomplishments of our alumni. Several past students, both recent graduates and those who completed their studies some time ago, delivered insightful and sophisticated concurrent session presentations. It was truly inspiring to see the impact our former students are making in their respective fields.

John Thompson, one of our lecturers and nurse practitioners, facilitated a panel discussion on PhD versus Doctorate pathways, where Senior Lecturer and nurse practitioner Dr Diane Crellin shared her expertise on PhD programmes. This session further underscored our university's commitment to providing a continuum of advanced practice education, from clinical training to scholarship and research.

The team returned from Canberra energised and full of ideas to enhance our offerings and outreach. We look forward to building on the connections made and insights gained at this year's conference to further strengthen our position in the field of advanced nursing practice education.
