Congratulating Ellie White on her remarkable marathon milestone
Ellie White has achieved an incredible milestone by completing the Indigenous Marathon Program (IMP) and the New York City Marathon.
Back in April, Ellie was selected as one of 12 First Nations peoples (of 323 applicants) from across Australia, aged 18-30 years, to take part in IMP. The program runs for six months and focuses on health, wellbeing and leadership, using running as a vehicle for positive change within communities. Participants also gain valuable qualifications, including:
- Level 1 Recreational Running Coach Accreditation
- First Aid Certification
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Mental Health First Aid
This journey culminates in completing the New York City Marathon – a powerful goal where squad members push themselves beyond their physical and mental limits.
Ellie reflected on her experience: “It was a privilege to be part of IMP this year, a celebration of Blak excellence. I am grateful for the School’s support of my participation in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, which allowed me to connect with Mob from across the country and further develop my leadership skills.”
The Physiotherapy Department congratulates Ellie on this outstanding achievement!
