Congratulating Brooke Conley on winning the Dean’s Award and Chancellor’s Prize
Dr Brooke Conley from the Department of Physiotherapy recently received both the Dean’s Award for Excellence and the Chancellor’s Prize for Excellence for her PhD thesis.
Brooke’s thesis, ‘What do culturally appropriate arthritis education resources look like for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples?’ responds to Community-identified needs and Australia’s National Strategic Action Plan for Arthritis. By collaborating with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples living with arthritis across Western Australia and Victoria and using a community-based participatory action research framework, Brooke and her research team, co-designed culturally informed, evidence-based arthritis education resources, to support better arthritis management.
On Wednesday 15 October, the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences held the annual Dean’s Award for Graduate Researchers to recognise the excellence, collaboration, and outstanding contributions of graduate researchers. Brooke was one of six researchers receiving the Dean’s Award for Excellence in the PhD Thesis.
Brooke was also recipient of the Chancellor’s Prize for Excellence in the PhD Thesis. This prize is awarded annually to up to six nominees demonstrating international recognition, impact, scholarly contributions, and recognition of research. This award highlights Brooke’s exceptional contributions to advancing health research and community engagement.
