A night of thanks for our DOVS collaborators and enablers

The Department of Optometry and Vision Sciences (DOVS) was delighted to host our annual Thank You event last week at The Woodward, bringing together our teaching, research and professional staff, clinical and industry partners, placement providers, and student representatives.

The evening began with a formal address from the Head of Department, Professor Andrew Metha, who reflected on the achievements of 2025 and shared the department’s priorities for the year ahead.

This was followed by the presentation of our annual awards, recognising excellence in clinical education and leadership within the profession:

Best Rural Placement Practice Award
Best Metro Placement Practice Award

Guests then enjoyed an opportunity to connect over drinks and canapés, strengthening relationships across our teaching, research and clinical training communities.

We congratulate this year’s award recipients and extend our sincere thanks to all our partners and collaborators. The Thank You event is our way of acknowledging your ongoing support, dedication and commitment to advancing optometry - whether through outstanding teaching, impactful research partnerships, or the high quality placement experiences you provide for our students. Your contributions play a vital role in shaping the future of the profession.
