A genomics-informed future for healthcare

Genomics in healthcare offers the potential to revolutionise diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases by providing personalised insights based on an individual's genetic makeup. But given the challenges within the healthcare system – including complexities of implementation, multidisciplinary nature, infrastructure and data management – it’s not yet been fully integrated.

Published in Nature Medicine, a new paper titled ‘Using implementation science to navigate the complexity of integrating genomics into healthcare’, co-authored by University of Melbourne’s Associate Professor A/Prof Stephanie Best and a multi-institutional team, outlines key strategies for integrating genomic testing into healthcare systems following a groundbreaking 8-year study by Australian Genomics
