Research Advances Teaching Practice Across Health Sciences

The first paper reports on the commercially available online short course Biochemical Basis for Human Life (BBHL), developed to give Master of Nursing Science entrants foundational bioscience knowledge and to serve as continuing professional development for practising clinicians. Published in the International Journal of Nursing Education (Kusljic & Kusljic, 2026, in press), the study explores a microlearning approach and demonstrates that the BBHL course produced measurable benefits in refreshing clinicians’ knowledge and supporting learners at different stages of their careers.

The second paper, accepted by Health Professions Education (Kusljic et al., 2026, in press), documents the Health Sciences Special Interest Group’s cross-institutional and cross-disciplinary peer review of teaching - an initiative A/Prof Kusljic founded and chairs within the Higher Education and Research Development Society of Australasia. Undertaken in 2025 across six institutions and involving seven academics, the peer review model emphasises authentic learning, workforce readiness and knowledge translation, offering a practical framework for strengthening teaching quality and collaboration across health sciences programs.

These publications not only underscore Snezana’s impact on curriculum innovation and scholarly practice but also enhance the profile of the School of Health Sciencces in professional education.
