Celebrating World Social Work Day with 3CR
The 19 of March was World Social Work Day. It’s a day aimed at celebrating and recognising the extraordinary contributions social workers make in our community. The Social Work Department, for the second year running, collaborated with 3 Community Radio (3CR) to feature the unique voices of social workers on the Tuesday Breakfast program.
The program was hosted by Ivka, Frances, Kannagi, and Phuong from 3CR, they were joined by Dr Jennifer Davidson, Charlotte Lynch and Chloe Span.
Dr Jennifer Davidson, who is a senior lecturer at The University of Melbourne spoke about this year’s theme ‘shared future for transformative change’. Dr Davidson highlighted the importance of transformative change as a concept in the field of social work. Charlotte Lynch, who is based out at Southeast Monash Legal discussed their important work supporting women on temporary visas who are experiencing family violence. Charlotte highlighted the important role social workers can play within community legal services in supporting victim survivors. Lastly, Chloe Span joined the conversation discussing their work engaging with families affected by alcohol and drug use.
A huge thank you to both the 3CR Tuesday Breakfast program team and the guests for wonderful insights provided across the morning conversation.
