The Department of Social Work hosted the annual Len Tierney Memorial Lecture on 14 October, bringing together more than 170 guests: alumni, students, staff, and members of the Tierney family, to celebrate the enduring legacy of Dr Len Tierney.

A/Professor David Rose, Interim Head of Department of Social Work, opened the event and reflected on the significance of the Len Tierney Memorial Lecture, celebrating the life and work of Dr Tierney, whose contributions to child and family welfare remain influential in the field today.

This year’s lecture featured Dr Robyn Miller AM, CEO of MacKillop Family Services, and Dr Gemma McKibbin, Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Social Work, who shared their journey and thought-provoking insights on supporting children through evidence-based practice and compassionate leadership.
