Research projects:
2024 Honours projects are available in the following research areas:
- Acute cardiorespiratory and exercise oncology,
- Neurological rehabilitation and gerontology,
- Musculoskeletal and sports rehabilitation,
- Paediatric physiotherapy,
- Women’s health
Course structure:
The Honours program involves two coursework subjects (25 points) and a Research Project (75 points).

The Department coursework subject provides students with:
- the common building blocks needed for biomedical research; and
- an understanding of both processes and skills which are essential to the conduct of human research in the physiotherapy setting.
The Research Project subject requires the students to undertake an original supervised project and provides the student with valuable research skills.

- Attend the department information session.
- Identify physiotherapy projects of interest via Sonia database.
- Make direct contact with potential supervisors to discuss project specifics.
- Apply for course and submit your project preferences by the university due dates.
Selection Criteria:
Students must satisfy the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences (MDHS) entry requirements.

Dates
This course commences in the middle of February and finishes early November. There is no mid-year intake.
Time Commitment
Our Honours program can only be undertaken on a full-time basis. A student would be expected to be engaged in their research for an average of thirty hours per week over two semesters.

Level 7, Alan Gilbert Building, Parkville
Note: Some students may undertake research projects where their supervisors are based outside of Parkville at a university-affiliated facility (e.g., hospital, research institute). In this case, students may be required to travel to collect data and/or meet with their supervisor(s).
Facilities
Honours students will be supervised by individual staff members but will also have access to facilities of the Department. Each student will have access to desks in the departments common areas.
