A/Prof Lauren Ayton appointed Interim Associate Dean of Innovation and Enterprise within MDHS
We are pleased to share that Associate Professor Lauren Ayton has been appointed interim Associate Dean of Innovation and Enterprise within the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry, and Health Sciences at the University of Melbourne (MDHS).
A/Prof Lauren Ayton, a Principal Research Fellow in both the Department of Optometry and Vision Sciences and the Department of Surgery (Ophthalmology), has focused her research on developing novel drugs and devices to improve vision for individuals with inherited retinal diseases.
Her extensive industry experience includes significant contributions to several start-up companies. Notably, as the former Director of Clinical and Regulatory Affairs at Bionic Eye Technologies in the United States, she led preparations for a clinical trial of the Boston retinal implant and was involved in strategic planning, business development, and investor pitches.

In her new role, A/Prof Lauren Ayton will lead efforts to enhance research translation and impact within the faculty. She will also support staff in becoming educational innovators and oversee the delivery of various programs and funding schemes within the portfolio.
