Conference presentation at the 13th European Congress on Violence in Clinical Psychiatry, Krakow, Poland, November 2024
A/Prof. Bridget Hamilton, CentreMHN Director and Puneet Sansanwal, Consumer Academic presented at the 13thEuropean Congress on Violence in Clinical Psychiatry held in Krakow, Poland during November 2024. The congress themes was moving towards violence free and coercion free mental health care. International keynotes included speakers from WHO, sharing insights about upholding people’s rights and moving towards a system where people receive the needed care and support in an environment that is free from coercion.
The CentreMHN team, Puneet and Bridget co-presented a paper on consumer perspective contributions to freely available Safewards resources & training.
Bridget collaborated with Anna Björkdahl from Centre for Psychiatry Research, Karolinska Institutet, & Stockholm Health Care Services, Sweden to present their findings from their Delphi study including active ingredients across the ten Safewards interventions.
Thirdly, Puneet presented on the role of the lived experience workforce and consumer advocates in implementing Royal Commission (Victoria) recommendations for eliminating violence from mental health settings.
The team made most of the opportunity to network with mental health practitioners and lived experience colleagues from all over the world, across three days, building relationships for potential future collaboration.
