Bridging Gaps with the SEWB Framework: A Lived Experience Perspective on Culturally Responsive Care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples
Shibs Sharpe presented at ACMHN 2024 sharing an overview of the Social and Emotional Wellbeing framework and used reflections of her own lived experience on how mental how nurses can be culturally responsive.
Exploring The Social and Emotional Wellbeing framework, this presentation addressed the importance of providing culturally responsive and holistic care from a lived Experience perspective. It offered an opportunity to understand Indigenous ways of knowing, being and doing outside of clinical frameworks honouring the knowledge and lived experience of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Shibs also delivered a 60 minute workshop alongside 2 Aboriginal Mental Health Nurses who work at the UniMelb Department of Nursing at the CATSINaM Conference. They set up a yarning circle to introduce the SEWB framework to nurses and midwives and had an informal discussion on the importance of it, how they can better promote SEWB and how they can look after their own wellbeing.
