Since its inception in July 2009, the Melbourne School of Health Sciences (MSHS) has created an inter-professional learning community at the forefront of leadership in health sciences education, clinical research, scholarship, professional practice, workforce training and knowledge exchange.
Department of Nursing
Our mission is to enhance the health and wellbeing of individuals, families and communities through discovery, education and translation of evidence to nursing practice and healthcare. Our programs of research are aligned with the School of Health Sciences cross-cutting research themes 1) Implementation science and Health services research and 2) Informatics and digital health and research hubs: 1) Healthy start to life; 2) Disability and 3) Optimising health.
Our world-leading practice-based research is integral to improving patient and family outcomes and making positive contributions to the health of the community. Our nursing research aims at ensuring delivery of high-quality nursing education and improving quality and safety of care in partnership with patients and their families and the interdisciplinary health team. This research is paramount to the future nursing education workforce, to reducing the burden of suffering, disease and disability in our community and to the delivery of high quality, evidence-based health care. Our programs of research focus on the development, implementation and evaluation of models of care sensitive to nursing interventions and the quality of the nursing workforce.
