  • Nursing

For Students enrolled in the Master of Nursing Science the Department of Nursing planned clinical placements will continue as of April 20th 2020

Students should be advised that the Department of Nursing is working closely with the Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer Victorian Department of Health and Human Services. Together the university and DHHS will  continue to closely monitor clinical placement activity at this time.

Any changes to planned clinical placements will be communicated to students via the course coordinator.

  • Optometry and Vision Sciences

All clinical placements are currently paused until further notice.

  • Physiotherapy

For second year students in week three of their five week placement we will continue this placement for as long as health services are supportive. For second year students going into Block 3, we are pausing this clinical placement, to be reviewed after 19th of April.

Our third year students are currently undertaking placements in aged care, chronic disease and paediatrics. The first block completes tomorrow (Friday March 20). We have considered this group separately and are concerned that they are interacting with more vulnerable patients. For this reason, we have decided to suspend third year placements after this block.

We will review all ongoing clinical placements regularly, with all of our partners and as a whole on the 19th of April after the Easter break. We will let students know via their leaning management system (CANVAS)

  • Social Work

We know that your placement planning is a key concern. In these challenging times it is difficult to look too far ahead. In line with our Faculty policy, we will review by Monday 20 April whether any placement commencement is possible in 2020. However, at this point in time, all placements are paused.
