Watch Recording: 2025 Marian Barrett Lecture: Data and Digital Systems
On Tuesday May 13, the Department of Nursing was pleased to host the annual Marian Barrett Lecture at the Ian Potter Auditorium, following International Nurses Day. This year, we welcomed internationally recognised nurse and researcher Professor Dawn Dowding as keynote presenter.
The hybrid event explored the role of digital technologies in nursing practice. Professor Dowding examined how nurses can adapt to an increasingly digital health environment and considered both the opportunities and challenges these technologies present. The lecture provided timely insights into how digital systems are reshaping nursing knowledge, practice, and the future of care. Find out more information on the lecture and speaker. Following the lecture, a cocktail reception provided a welcome opportunity for networking.
The Department also took the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our 2024 Scholarship and Prize recipients. We thank our generous donors whose philanthropic support continues to make these awards possible.
This year’s program also included a speech in remembrance of Aileen Wilkinson, a former recipient of the Catherine Wotton Ovarian Cancer Scholarship, honouring her invaluable contribution and commitment to the nursing profession.
