Audiology screening with the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service (VAHS)

On Friday 18 August, the Department of Audiology held a screening session to support the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service.

The University of Melbourne's Department of Audiology has been supporting the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service (VAHS) screenings over the past 5 years, with Master of Audiology students conducting tests alongside supervision from qualified audiologists.

Recently, other services have been offered to families when bringing their children in for the hearing assessment. Optometry and speech pathology services where also available when families required these extra services.

The most recent session also included the opportunity for families and support workers to yarn with clinical placement leads about how speech pathology, social work, optometry, physiotherapy and nursing could also be incorporated in the program to offer a holistic health approach that is community supported.
