This Movember, the Melbourne School of Health Sciences invites you to a special event shining a light on a significant global priority for men's health.
Keynote speaker Professor John Oliffe will provide an overview of specific male depressive symptoms, the role of masculinity in help-seeking, treatment uptake and self-management of mental health issues. John and a panel of experts will share advances in health interventions for men and their families, and the lessons learnt from delivering community and e-health programs.
Professor John Ollife:
John Oliffe is Professor and Associate Director of Research at the School of Nursing at the University of British Columbia and an Honorary of the Department of Nursing Melbourne School of Health Sciences at the University of Melbourne. As the founder and lead investigator of UBC's Men's Health Research program his work focuses on the influence of masculinity on men's mental health behaviours, illness, management, impact on partners, families and life quality. His research informs a suite of men's health interventions offering guidance to clinicians and researchers and his work recently featured in the documentary, "A Short Essay on Men".
