The University of Melbourne and St Vincent’s Hospital award new PhD Studentship

For the improvement of bereavement family support, MSHS’s Department of Nursing and the Centre for Palliative Care award Alysia Coventry a new Graduate Research Studentship.

With over 20 years of experience as a nurse in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Alysia Coventry seeks to apply her PhD research in the development of a more family-centred model of bereavement care in ICUs across Australia.

Professor Marie Gerdtz, Head of the Department of Nursing, will be part of Coventry’s supervision team, as she can’t speak highly enough of her bright future.

“Alysia brings both academic and clinical expertise in the care of family members’ experiences and perceptions of end-of-life care in the ICU environment.”

“Her recently published systematic review on the topic in the prestigious Journal of Advanced Nursing, along with her extensive background working as an ICU nurse, places her in the ideal position to undertake nurse-led health services research with real-world impacts for individuals, bereaved families and organisations.”

We congratulate Alysia Coventry on her Studentship and are excited to hear about this amazing contribution from the Department of Nursing. Click here to find out more.
