Scholarship opportunities – Graduate Certificate in Critical Care Nursing (Emergency)

A fantastic scholarship opportunity is currently available through Western Health. Multiple scholarships are now available to suitably qualified and experienced registered nurses looking to step up to a career in Emergency Nursing in 2022.

The scholarship amounts to $10,000 to complete the 12-month Graduate Certificate in Critical Care Nursing (Emergency) and will arm recipients with the skills and evidence-based knowledge to provide specialist care in Emergency Department (ED) settings.

About the Opportunity

Nursing in an emergency environment requires specialised knowledge and skills to assess, prioritise and manage patients with undifferentiated illnesses and injuries. Today, more than ever, emergency nurses are critical to the health, safety and wellbeing of our community.

Scholarship recipients will enjoy the best of both worlds: the flexibility of online study delivered by University of Melbourne experts, alongside the rich benefits of face-to-face in-situ learning in the clinical setting at Western Health.

Our work-integrated learning model facilitates deep learning and enables nurses to put theoretical knowledge into practice under the guidance of experienced educators in the field.

Graduate Certificate in Critical Care Nursing (Emergency)

  • Established networks between academics and clinical experts enables students to develop and share knowledge as part of a dynamic group of peers and colleagues – both in person and online.
  • Scholarship recipients will be given the opportunity to access two fully online short courses at no extra cost, assuring all scholarship recipients can excel in the award program (Transitions to Critical Care Nursing and Biochemical Basis for Human Life)
  • On completion of the course graduates will be eligible to apply for entry into our Master of Advanced Nursing Practice.

Requirements

You will be a registered nurse with a Bachelor of Nursing (or equivalent) and have some ED or acute care nursing experience.

Scholarship recipients will be required to commit to a 12-month length of study with The University of Melbourne and a 3-year minimum length of employment at Western Health.

Successful applicants will demonstrate strong communication skills and show leadership potential.
