Watch Recording: The Marian Barrett Lecture 2024: Equity in Health Care - Every Nurse's Business
On May 9, the Thursday prior to International Nurses Day, the Department of Nursing was delighted to hold the annual Marian Barrett Lecture.
Held at the Ian Potter Auditorium, we welcomed Professor Mei Krishnasamy as the panel facilitator. Participating in the panel were speakers Adjunct Associate Professor Violet Platt, Ingrid Sutherland and Dr Cathy Daniel. Find out more information on the lecture and speakers.
The hybrid event was a fantastic occasion to come together in person and online to celebrate the role nurses play in advancing equity through practice, policy and research. With a focus on homelessness, disability and mental health, the panellists articulated the contribution of nurses to critical issues facing our society and the potential, through investment in nursing, to advance public health in Australia and across the globe. Following the lecture, there was a cocktail session, providing an excellent opportunity to network.
During the event, the Department also celebrated our 2023-2024 Scholarship and Prize recipients. We thank our donors who, through philanthropic endeavours, continue to support our scholarships and prizes.
Thank you to all those who attended and contributed to the success of the evening.
