University of Melbourne and Hokkaido University 2024 International Collaborative Research Grant

The University of Melbourne has had recent grant success with Hokkaido University.

The two universities have collaborated in the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Fund in the Promotion of Joint International Research of KAKENHI (Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research). The five-year research project 'Developing and Implementing Health Promotion Strategies to Extend Healthy Lifespan: A Japan-Australia Collaboration' received 20.8 million yen (approx. $220K AUD).

This study aims to develop and implement a comprehensive health promotion strategy centered on practical and effective self-management to extend healthy life expectancy worldwide. This will be done through collaboration between Japan and Australia, both leading the worlds in aging rate and average life expectancy. This is a multidisciplinary collaboration among health professionals, and experts in the fields of biochemistry and medical engineering.
