DOVS 50th Anniversary Gala Dinner
On Sunday 10 September, the Department of Optometry and Vision Sciences (DOVS) concluded its 50 year anniversary celebrations with a resounding gala dinner attended by over 130 guests. The evening was a fitting celebration to mark a significant milestone.
Reflections on the department's incredible 50 year journey were presented by former Heads of Department Professsor Algis Vingrys, Professor Allison McKendrick, and current Head of Department Associate Professor Andrew Metha.
Guests were delighted by a sophisticated dinner and experienced a tour of the DARK MATTERS exhibition at the Science Gallery within Melbourne Connect. Sophie Koh, the Australian College of Optometry Council President and Professor Andrew Anderson from DOVS, entertained the crowd with their amusing musical performance.
An impressive history museum display from Cyril Kett Optometry Museum and Archive, which revisited the changes and developments in optometry over the past 300 years, was also featured at the event.
