Titled The Mavis Gallienne and Graham Land MND Victoria Research Grant, Prof Berlowitz and his team have received support for their project, ‘REPAIR MND: REduced PAtient – ventilator asynchrony with Artificial Intelligence assisted Respiration in MND’.

Two Australians are diagnosed with, and die from, Motor Neurone Disease (MND) every day. Prof Berlowtiz’s project aims to improve the respiratory health of patients by reducing patient-ventilator asynchronies, the mismatch of breathing levels between patient and machine.

Currently, there is no cure for MND. However, this research will create important impacts on the lives of those living with MND, their families and communities.
