Warning! Our clinic uses specialised eye drops which can leave vision in affected eyes slightly blurred for up to 36 hours after treatment. Please take this in to account when making your appointment.
- How treatment works
Consultations are conducted by final year students fully supervised by experienced practicing optometrists who are staff of the University of Melbourne. Supervising optometrists hold therapeutic endorsements and as part of the therapeutic teaching program for current undergraduate students the clinic is able to prescribe medications available to therapeutically endorsed optometrists.
Please note that as we are a teaching clinic, our appointments may sometimes take longer than at other optometry service providers, up to 90 minutes for a full initial consultation. When making an appointment you can be advised as to the expected length of your visit.

Melbourne EyeCare carries a wide range of designer and budget frames for men, women and children. Frame brands include: Armani, Diesel, Gucci, Dior, Carrera, Porsche and Kenzo.

- What should I expect to pay on the day?
Most consultations are covered under Medicare arrangements or through OSHC insurance. There may be a small gap fee. There may also be small fees for items that fall outside the Medicare system, such as some contact lens fitting and some auxiliary testing. These fees will be discussed with you before testing.
University staff and students and their direct family are offered a substantial discount (20-30%) off retail prices for contact lenses, prescription spectacles and sunglasses.
