Hong Kong University Exchange Program

We welcomed four Bachelor of Nursing students in July and August from Hong Kong University as part of our exchange program.

In collaboration with our clinical partner Western Health students attended placement at Sunshine and Williamstown Hospitals in addition to attending lectures, workshops and simulated learning sessions at the university.

Angel, Winnie, Jessica and Ocean were allocated a buddy from the MNSc student cohort who acted as a support - and at times a tour guide, visiting Cape Schanck, Melbourne Zoo and Phillip Island along with a number of Melbourne attractions within.

The students attended a number of lectures and workshops including Preparing for Graduate Nurse (GNP) Interviews, Hope, Hype and Reality of Stem Cell Treatments: Nursing Scope of Practice, Ethical Implications and Social Expectations, Domestic and Family Violence, Managing Clinical Aggression (MOCA REDI), MET Calls, Human Factors, and simulated clinical learning in response to care of deteriorating surgical patients.

The students were additionally provided an overview of the Hong Kong Health care system as part of the Contemporary Nursing subject.
