UoM Department of Nursing and Karolinska collaborative pressure injury prevention project

The Department of Nursing and Karolinska University Hospital have commenced a collaborative research project to reduce the incidence of hospital acquired pressure injuries in Stockholm.

Professor Nick Santamaria and a team from Karolinska will adapt techniques developed in Melbourne to assist in the reduction of these preventable injuries.  The project will focus on preventative interventions in the Emergency Department of the hospital.  Professor Santamaria says “it is a great opportunity for the Department of Nursing to work with an internationally renowned university hospital in translating our research into clinical practice improvement that will help to protect the most vulnerable patients”
