Launch of the University of Melbourne Speech Pathology Alumni Association

On July 14th 2016, the Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology formally launched The University of Melbourne Speech Pathology Alumni (UMSPA). The UMSPA vision is to create a lifelong and worldwide community of alumni through meaningful engagement, in order to increase awareness, pride, participation and involvement in the Speech Pathology program at The University of Melbourne.

The launch event brought together clinicians from each of the graduated year levels of the Master of Speech Pathology program. It was a great opportunity for alumni to gather and share details of their professional pathways and achievements, as well as reflect on their time at The University of Melbourne. Associate Professor Angela Morgan (Director of Teaching and Research for Speech Pathology) spoke to attendees about the growth and development of the Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology as well as its support for the alumni community.

Since the launch event, UMSPA has hosted a successful Careers Night for current students, with Speech Pathologists presenting from a number of clinical settings. The UMSPA committee looks forward to holding a series of events in the future and invites all staff and alumni to attend. Speech Pathology alumni and Department staff can connect with UMSPA via  Facebook,  Twitter and  LinkedIn.
