FAQ

Warning! Our clinic uses specialised eye drops which can leave vision in affected eyes slightly blurred for up to 36 hours after treatment. Please take this in to account when making your appointment.

  • How treatment works

Consultations are conducted by final year students fully supervised by experienced practicing optometrists who are staff of the University of Melbourne. Supervising optometrists hold therapeutic endorsements and as part of the therapeutic teaching program for current undergraduate students the clinic is able to prescribe medications available to therapeutically endorsed optometrists.

Please note that as we are a teaching clinic, our appointments may sometimes take longer than at other optometry service providers, up to 90 minutes for a full initial consultation. When making an appointment you can be advised as to the expected length of your visit.

There is no charge for eye examinations and the fee for contact lens fitting and after-care visits (normally $70-$100) is waived in all teaching clinics (final year optometry students under the supervision of experienced practising optometrists).
