Speech Pathology Services & Appointments


We offer high quality, evidence-based speech pathology services for adults and children, provided by qualified speech pathologists and student clinicians.

Services

Our clinics offer patient centered services. We work closely with clients, parents and/or carers to achieve high quality outcomes.

  • Preschool Communication Clinic

    This clinic is for children aged two and a half (2.5) to five (5) years of age, with speech or language difficulties. This includes children who are saying few words, who have speech that is difficult to understand, or who are having trouble understanding others.

    We provide a full assessment of children’s communication and intervention appropriate to their needs, working closely with parents.

  • Childhood Apraxia of Speech Clinic

    For children aged 3-12 years with Childhood Apraxia of Speech (diagnosed or suspected). This intensive clinic runs twice per year, and uses the evidence-based Nuffield Dyspraxia Treatment programme.

    Sessions are provided intensively over a period of 4 weeks, with the next intake commencing in July 2017.

  • Stuttering Treatment Clinic for Children, Adolescents and Adults

    Our Stuttering Treatment Clinic provides evidence-based assessment and intervention for children, adolescents and adults who stutter. Treatment follows the world-leading Lidcombe Program and Camperdown programs.

  • Dysarthria Treatment Clinic

    The Dysarthria Treatment Clinic provides a unique approach to treatment for adults with acquired or progressive dysarthria. A computer-based program is used to support intensive practice, alongside clinic-based and home-based treatment sessions.

  • Aphasia Intensive Clinic

    The Aphasia Intensive Clinic is run twice per year and provides a 5-week treatment program for adults with chronic aphasia (more than 6 months after onset).

    The next intake for this clinic will be in July 2017.

Appointments

Our Speech Pathology clinics do not require a referral. To access any of our Speech Pathology clinics, clients, parents or carers should complete a Clinic Access Form online.

Request an appointment

When this is submitted, a Speech Pathologist from our clinic will review the information to see if our clinics are suitable for you. You will then be contacted to make an appointment.

If Speech pathologists or GPs wish to provide a referral for one of our specialist clinics, they can contact the Speech Pathologist in charge of the clinic.

  • What should I expect to pay on the day?

    The fees for each of our Speech Pathology clinics are outlined in the detailed information about each clinic. We require payment on the day of the appointment.

  • How appointments are run

    Our Speech Pathology Clinics treat teaching and learning as core business, while delivering high quality, patient centred care. We provide experiential learning and students are included in all facets of the clinic. At all times students are supervised by an experienced Speech Pathologist. As part of your appointment, you may be seen by a supervised speech pathology student, a Speech Pathologist, or both may be in the room.

  • Suggest a clinic

    If you need to see a speech pathologist but our clinics outlined above do not meet your need, feel free to let us know. We will review these suggestions when we consider the development of further clinics to meet the needs of the community.
